Paisano Pete’s clothes stolen

Paisano Pete’s clothes stolen, You’ve heard of the Emporer’s new clothes? Well, for Fort Stockton’s Paisano Pete, he really did receive a new set of Christmas duds, which he was wearing until just recently, when the Grinch, in the guise of an innocent individual, apparently decided to rob him of his new outfit.

Paisano Pete has become somewhat of an icon in this part of Texas, luring motorists traveling through the area off the highway, into Historic Fort Stockton. For most, he is the closest most tourists will ever come to a roadrunner, so when his Christmas finery goes missing, that’s a big deal in Fort Stockton.

Paisano Pete’s Christmas hat was the first sign that someone with Grinch-like tendencies was in Fort Stockton. That went missing Monday night.

Then, Tuesday night, when the streets were devoid of traffic, and the police were taking care of matters in other parts of town, this Grinch-like person, with a heart two-sizes too small, pinched Paisano Pete’s clothes right off his back.

With the Christmas Festival coming up Nov. 29, at the Chamber of Commerce grounds, right across the street, the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is hoping that the Grinch-like person will step forward and return the Christmas costume, or if anyone has information that will lead to the return of the outfit, call Crystal Lopez at the Chamber of Commerce at 336-2264, or the Fort Stockton Police Department at 336-4600.
