A restaurant guest from Punta Gorda, Florida, was said to recently give back several $100 bills to a server who believed she was giving the money to a customer who had left it behind.
Yet what Ms. Samantha Knight didn’t know was that she was giving the $1,000 to the wrong person, a pricey mistake, but would end up with that same amount of money at the end of the unbelievable ordeal. Opposing Views tells this interesting story this Monday, Dec. 23, 2013.
The honest man who returned the $1,000 decided to give such a generous gift to the woman for such a genuinely sincere and selfless mistake. Samantha Knight was nearing the end of her shift at Laishley Crab House last week in the western Florida town of Punta Gorda when she discovered a small wad of $100 bills sitting at an open table. A security camera reveals Knight chasing after the customer while the man was walking out the door, thinking he had left the money.
“I was like you left this is the booth. He said thanks, patted his pocket, took it and walked away,” Knight revealed to a local news station.
However, Knight soon discovered that she had mixed up her tables’ former customers, and returned the $1,000 to the wrong man. Yet it was too late, as the unknown individual had already left with the bills.
The man didn’t use a credit card in his transaction, so it was nearly impossible to identify him. The actual owner of the money, Mr. Chuck Behm, was spotted departing from the restaurant only moments before.
Soon, however, the original taker of the money saw the security video on the news and decided to return the cash back to the waitress at the Crab House restaurant in order to right the pricey mistake in what he called a big misunderstanding.

“This morning the guy came in and returned it to me,” finished the waitress with a smile. “He’s from Delaware and came in from out of town. He had a wad of money in his pocket as well.”
“He sounded very sincere,” she said. “He gave me another 100 dollars on top of that for my troubles.”
